poster for montage it!

So this is the last picture i did for communication course. ( i will miss this....although i miss my sleeping time more )

In this poster, I wanna show the progress of make the original model into a photoshoped one. And how the final photoshop montage looks like.

montage it! final submission.

well, now it comes the final ones...

click the small image can see the big one.

Before i did this, i looked back at my previous montage pictures. I dont see any connection between each and they r just some random images.

So i decided to create a series of pictures that share the same concept, therefore the amosphere will becom much stronger.

Due to my own taste, I wanna create a sets of pictures showing a foggy morning in winter, the background is quite empty except some very blury trees. there r some peoples shadows passing by. and the whole context and amosphere is very quiet, calm, elegant and a bit cold.

Because of this idea, i apply some old contrete textures onto my model and try to make them fit in the context. I created 4 pictures: three for daytime and one for night. Among the daytime, there r one building standing in the snow land, or a series of the same buildings laying together , or looking outside from one window and seeing another building..

I really like this scenes. I only use elevations of the buildings. because i wanna keep the same look. But this can be a problem since there is no diversity of showing different sides of my model. anyway, i think i did my best and really enjoy this. lol.

montage it! filp it !

I really like the concept of flip book! And i really hate blogger since the editor page is sooooo hard to use.

anyway, here r two animation i made for my flipbook.

The first shows the movement and progress of the building being built. i create a little person walking by and stop when the building starts to fall off. so it is very intersting.

for the second one, i wanna show the exrernal outlook and interial space of the building. but it ends up very simple and boring...

dairy for montage it!

here r my basic model:

My model is quite simple. I wanna show the concept of being simple, geomatric and lighting can be a big effect. so i cut a hole at the top corner of my model and paste some wire. therefore, when light gets throuth the hole, it can create beautiful inregular shadows.

and then i've done some montage using my model:

So above r some basic montage i've done.

for each scene, i created both black and white and color version. I think colorful ones can be very effective, meanwhile, black and white ones can actually show the shape and tone and texture of the building and context.

I really like the beach scene one, and i put my building in the corner of the picture, so people can see all the landscape. I use photoshop to add about 4 or 5 layers to create shadows, waves, textures for my model, and then i change the tone of my picture, so it doent look very realy but the colour is more effective.

this montages r still very rough since i didnt add textures and other objects ( i e people, context) on to the picture. so they can be further developed. lol.

some images for draw it ! studio

Here are some architectural drawings and some rendering.

Above r architectural drawings of my chosen building.
The technique I use is to draw the out lines of the building on one side of tracing paper. And then I  draw the details such as windows/ patterns on the back of tracing paper.
And then once i scan them, lines that r not very important will became lighter.

I really like these drawings and i even use double thin lines to draw the windows and doors.

Above one is pen line drawing. I like this one but it's really wasting of ink...

Above r pencil drawings. Im very confort with this kind of drawings. But watercolour drawing is aslo effecting. So...may decide to choose one because too many different techniques in one poster will make it a bit messy...

Above r some water colour paintings.. The most interesting one is a night view of the building.
The lighting and stars can be really effective..

This one is drawn on brown paper. And then I use white pencil to render the windows...

Below are the final poster and the draw it poster.

there 2 r final redering poster and Draw-it! poster.

for the final one, i try to keep most of the paper blank, and keep all the drawings in the middle area of the paper. so it's more balcance and people can focus on the drawings.

i also use trees and shadows to connect different drawings ( ie perspective, elevation, secion etc) and make them one long picture. I think this is quite interesting. and actually i show both day time and night time view in this picture.

the draw-it! poster is actually quite simple but carry the same theme with my rendering poster. i put original architectual drawing on the ground and show renderings in their shadows. which shows the process and how i render them.

i really had a good time during doing this project. lol.

model-it! poster lol

the poster shows some perspects of model making.

The left part shows how different models can share the same section. I think this is the interesting part of building.

The right part shows the detail and site of the same model. The good thing of model making is architect can choose which part/area/angle they wanna show of a building. By looking the site model and percific detailing model, we can have different pictures of fisher house.

The below part of the poster shows how a model is built up. It reallllly takes a lot time and hard working.

communication week 2 and 3

week 2 in class:

This time we are creating three different models based on the same section. I want to make the three models different to each other.  I try to use geomatry shapes and abstract shapes to build up different models. I really like the secion one, since each side of it is different, and it can be put on the desk in different position.

take home :

This is the site model of fisher house. I think the hard part is to build up all the layers.
I picked up some branches to make the trees. They look good in the end :)

week 3 in class:

a corner of fisher house. I havent finished this. The section is actually a bit hard for me to read. Will work it out later.

take home:

Above is the process of making fisher house.

This one is the most important one. Hope can make it good.

final one:

communication model-it week 1

week 1 in class work:

I created some different types of windows for the building.  I think it's interesting to make the windows irregular.

week 1 take home model:

For myself, model making is more difficult than rendering or others since I am not good at cutting and pasting. Anyway, this model is pretty nice I think.

I didnt do the context and the landscape. These things should be worked on more next time.
